Under 13s Match Report – October 25th

Caythorpe U13s 2–2 HBW U13s

Another valuable point, in stormy conditions 💙🖤

Caythorpe U13s were left frustrated after conceding a last-gasp equaliser in a game they had largely controlled, drawing 2–2 at home to HBW in incredibly windy, stormy conditions.

With gale-force winds making life difficult for both sides, keeping the ball on the ground was crucial. Caythorpe adapted brilliantly in the first half, playing some excellent football and creating enough chances to have been three or four goals ahead by the break. Instead, they went in at half-time with a deserved 1–0 lead thanks to a superb individual goal from Bradley. The left-winger picked up the ball and embarked on a twisting run, beating defenders before firing across the goalkeeper and into the far corner.

HBW came out fighting after the restart and managed to level the scores, but Caythorpe responded well. Carson was put through on goal and showed great composure to calmly slot home and restore the home side's advantage. Caythorpe continued to look the better team and seemed on course to take all the points, having worked hard and played some excellent football. However, heartbreak struck right at the death when a mix-up at the back allowed HBW to snatch a late equaliser and deny Caythorpe a deserved victory.

Still, there were plenty of positives to take from the match. Albert put in an excellent shift alongside debutant Oliver - both defenders doing very well in helping to organise and maintain the backline. In midfield, Lennon once again impressed with his energy and work rate, and up top Charlie made some super runs to trouble the HBW defenders.

Despite the late disappointment for Caythorpe, there was plenty of good football, strong individual performances and lots of plus points to build on for the games ahead. We’d like to thank all of the parents for their support, and our home kit sponsor Holton Independent Schools
