NAVENBY 2–3 CAYTHORPE & FULBECK JFC

Another win. Another battle. Another example of never giving up.

Caythorpe & Fulbeck U12s made the short trip to Navenby in awful, blustery conditions, with the wind making it extremely difficult for either side to get the ball down and play their football.

Navenby started the brighter of the two teams, but on 20 minutes the breakthrough arrived in spectacular fashion.

Just five minutes after coming on as a substitute, Edward stepped up to take a corner.

He decided he didn’t need anyone on the end of it and planted it straight into the top bins!

1–0 CFJFC

The wind continued to play a massive part in proceedings and the game battled its way through to half-time with Caythorpe holding the advantage.

SECOND HALF

The second half was a much more even contest, but it was Navenby who struck early to level things at 1–1.

Now we needed a response, and the team delivered.

Some lovely football between Maciej, Freddie and Edward opened Navenby up before Freddie produced a composed finish to put Caythorpe back in front.

2–1 Caythorpe

Almost immediately, CFJFC were on the attack again.

Freddie laid the ball off to Edward, who fired a powerful effort straight at goal. It proved too hot for the goalkeeper to handle, and suddenly Caythorpe had breathing room.

3–1 CFJFC

Navenby kept going and managed to pull one back with virtually the last kick of the game, but there was no denying Caythorpe & Fulbeck another hard-earned victory.

Not every win is going to be pretty.

In really difficult conditions, these boys and girls showed once again that they’re developing a fantastic habit of grinding out results, responding to setbacks and never giving up.

Another brilliant team effort. Another win on the board.
