Caythorpe 🆚 Hykeham Tigers Imps

Back at it after a six-week break. A slow start from Caythorpe, but once the legs started moving and the football brain kicked back in, we really started to find our rhythm. 💪⚽️

🔥 2ND QUARTER

The boys stepped it up and started putting Hykeham under some real pressure.

A handball in the box gave us the chance from the spot and No.7 stepped up like he’d been taking penalties his whole life! 😂

💥 BANG! Straight in and Caythorpe had the lead!

🚀 3RD QUARTER

This was much more like it!

The boys came flying out and started playing some really good football. Hykeham defended brilliantly though and made us work hard for anything.

No.13 spotted the opportunity from inside his own half and decided, why not? 😂

A brilliant looping effort sailed over the keeper and into the net! 🚀⚽️

And because one wasn’t enough… he went and grabbed another shortly afterwards! 👏🔥

💥 4TH QUARTER

The final quarter was absolutely end-to-end.

Both teams were creating chances, both keepers were kept busy and neither side was willing to give an inch.

No.23 produced a lovely bit of individual skill, turning his defender with some great footwork before finishing really well. 👏⚽️

Hykeham kept battling right until the final whistle and eventually got their reward after a great run put one of their players through one-on-one. A really composed finish. 👌

🏆 PLAYER OF THE DAY – NO.7 🏆

A brilliant performance from No.7 today.

Some lovely footwork, great team play and a fantastic attitude throughout. Exactly what we want to see from the boys. 👏🖤

And because apparently one game wasn’t exciting enough… 😂

We finished off with a PENALTY SHOOTOUT! ⚽️🎯

Another cracking grassroots game between two good teams, played in the right spirit.

Lots of goals, plenty of effort, some brilliant individual moments and, most importantly, the boys enjoying their football. ❤️

That’s what grassroots football is all about. 🖤⚽️
