CAYTHORPE & FULBECK U12s 2-1 BIRCHWOOD CHARGERS
WHAT. A. FINISH!
Caythorpe & Fulbeck produced a performance full of determination, resilience and character as a dramatic injury-time winner secured a brilliant 2-1 victory over Birchwood Chargers.
The first half saw Caythorpe & Fulbeck dominate, creating chance after chance, but the Chargers keeper was in outstanding form, including an unbelievable save to deny Edward.
The boys and girls kept pushing, but that final touch just wouldn’t come. With five minutes until half-time, Birchwood began to grow into the game and took their opportunity to go into the break 1-0 ahead.
The second half started in much the same way. Caythorpe & Fulbeck continued to attack, but despite all the pressure, the equaliser just wouldn’t come.
It was going to take something special...
STEP FORWARD OLIVIER!
With eight minutes remaining, Olivier unleashed an absolute pile-driver from outside the box which crashed off the underside of the bar and IN!
1-1! GAME ON!
Then came CFJFC moment.
Deep into injury time, Freddie cut in from the right, brilliantly beating three or four players before finding Edward. His shot was blocked, but Luther reacted quickest to the rebound and fired the ball across the face of goal...
FREDDIE WAS THERE TO TAP HOME!
2-1 CAYTHORPE & FULBECK JFC
There was barely time to restart before the final whistle!
And incredibly, that makes it THREE LEAGUE GAMES IN A ROW in which our boys and girls have scored in the final minute.
That says everything about the resilience, belief and never-give-up attitude within this group.
Congratulations to every single player!
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: FREDDIE
