Match Report: Caythorpe & Fulbeck JFC U12s 3-1 Lowland Lions

Caythorpe & Fulbeck JFC U12s began their league season with an excellent 3-1 victory over Lowland Lions in an entertaining opening fixture.

The visitors made a strong start and took the lead after just seven minutes, forcing Caythorpe onto the back foot early on. However, the home side responded positively.

Their reward came in the 22nd minute when Caythorpe's number 9, Olivier found the equaliser, finishing confidently to bring his side level.

With the momentum firmly behind them, Caythorpe continued to press forward and took the lead just four minutes later. A superbly worked team move ended with Edward applying the finishing touch in the 26th minute, giving Caythorpe and Fulbeck a 2-1 advantage going into half-time.

The second half started with Lowland Lions looking to get themselves back into the game, but Caythorpe and Fulbeck JFC goalkeeper and Player of the Match, Marley had other ideas.

Five minutes after the restart, he produced a magnificent save to deny the visitors and protect his side's lead. It proved to be a crucial moment in the match.

Caythorpe then put the game beyond doubt in the 39th minute. Olivier picked up the ball on the halfway line and embarked on a brilliant solo run, dribbling past three defenders before calmly sliding the ball underneath the advancing goalkeeper to score his second goal of the game and make it 3-1.

The remainder of the match saw Caythorpe defend resolutely, continuing to work hard for one another and seeing out the game comfortably to secure all three points in their first league outing of the season.

A commanding display from Marley in goal, whose outstanding second-half save helped maintain Caythorpe and Fulbecks advantage and provided the platform for a memorable opening-day.
