Fulbeck JFC 4-5 Saxilby FC 💙⚽

A game of two halves and a comeback that nearly became something special!

Caythorpe started brightly in an even contest, but Saxilby capitalised on their chances, taking a 3-0 lead before a moment of magic got us back into the game. After some outstanding determination to win the ball back, #16 spotted the keeper off their line and produced a stunning lob to pull one back.Saxilby added another before the break, leaving us 4-1down at half-time.

The second half started positively, but a quick counter attack saw Saxilby extend their advantage to 5-1. What followed was a fantastic display of character, belief and resilience from the boys and girls. First, #16 grabbed his second of the match after more excellent work to regain possession. Then #8 produced a brilliant solo run from centre-back before calmly finishing to make it 5-3. With momentum building, #9 then fired home a superb strike to bring us within one goal and set up a tense finish.

Despite pushing until the very end, we just couldn't find the equaliser before the final whistle.

The scoreline may not have gone our way, but the fight shown to come back from 5-1 down to 5-4 was outstanding. A special mention to #2, whose relentlesswork rate, determination and ball-winning ability played a huge part in all four goals and perfectly summed up the team's never-give-up attitude. 💪💙
